To promote the pioneering role of union members and young people in transferring scientific and technological advances to local communities, on July 11, 2026, in Cu Lao Dung Commune, Can Tho City, the Youth Union Branch of the Can Tho Center for Application of Scientific and Technological Advances organized a training course on "Guidance on Applying Biological Products in Shrimp Pond Treatment." The activity was part of the program "Youth in Science and Technology for Sustainable Agriculture," accompanying local people in applying science and technology to production toward safe and sustainable agricultural development.

At the training course, shrimp-farming households were introduced to basic knowledge about the role of biological products in aquaculture and were guided on procedures for using these products to treat pond environments, improve water quality, and support disease prevention. The training content was developed based on the practical needs of farmers, making it easier for them to access and apply the techniques in production.

Youth from the Can Tho Center for Application of Scientific and Technological Advances bring science and technology closer to people in Cu Lao Dung.

During the session, union members, young people, and the Center's technical staff directly instructed participants on how to use biological products containing two beneficial microbial strains, Bacillus subtilis and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This product was transferred from the Can Tho Center for Application of Scientific and Technological Advances, has a microbial density comparable to products currently available on the market, and has proven effective through practical use in shrimp ponds.

Union members and young people directly guide local residents in applying biological products to production.

According to the training content, using biological products helps improve the water environment, enhances the decomposition of organic matter, and limits the development of pathogenic microorganisms through competition for habitat and nutrients. Beneficial bacteria also support shrimp digestion, stimulate digestive enzyme production, strengthen resistance, and contribute to improved production efficiency. In addition, applying biological products helps reduce the use of chemicals and antibiotics in aquaculture, protecting the environment and improving product quality.

A notable advantage of the product is that it is locally produced, reducing costs for farmers while still meeting technical standards in aquaculture under current regulations. The product is manufactured under quality-assured conditions and contains no prohibited substances in aquaculture production and business, offering a suitable solution for shrimp farmers in the context of green and sustainable agricultural development.

Through the training activity, union members and young people of the Can Tho Center for Application of Scientific and Technological Advances continued to affirm their pioneering role in bringing scientific and technological advances closer to local communities. This practical activity strengthens the connection between research and production practice, supports shrimp farmers in accessing advanced technical solutions, improves economic efficiency, and spreads the spirit of youth accompanying people in applying science and technology to production.
